Welcome to the official BARITUS website!
My name is Chris Lewis, and. I'm a convert to Catholicism and life-long illustrator. After years of working in graphic design, doing everything from apparel, packaging, branding and environmental design, I decided to take the skills I learned in the secular world, and apply them along with my love of illustrating solely to the Catholic faith and it's subjects. In 2018, after recovering from cancer and a serious of spiritual trials which led to deeper conversion, I decided to take my artistic gifts and give them back to God, and so in 2018 BARITUS was founded. ​

BARITUS is a Latin word meaning "War-Cry" or "Trumpeting", and resonated deeply with me as it evoked images of the Old Testament battles, or the Angelic battles from the Book of Revelation, and so wrapped up in the company icon is the sword and trumpet, representing not only the definition of BARITUS, but also as a symbol in itself of both proclaiming the faith (the trumpet), and defending the faith (sword). I decided at that time to go to war in a sense against the ugliness of the culture, and bring the grit and beauty of the Catholic faith to life through impactful graphic illustrations. ​
In addition to illustrating for countless Catholic clients, from dioceses, to parishes and schools, to Catholic brands, film studios, musicians, singers, publishers and many more, I have also established an online shop where I produce high-quality artisan crafted products to help inspire and encourage my fellow Catholics in the faith, and evangelize to an ever-darkening world that desperately needs the light of Christ.
